Prof. Patrick Yue receives cross-border funding

HKUST receives more than 40 million yuan from the Mainland as the first batch of cross-border scientific research funds

The team of the Faculty of Science of the University of Science and Technology has received a grant of 38 million RMB from the Guangdong Province (Guangzhou) Laboratory of Southern Ocean Science and Engineering. It will be used to establish a laboratory in the Hong Kong branch of the University of Science and Technology. It is expected to cultivate through cooperation with cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Marine Science and technology talents promote the development of the marine economy in the Greater Bay Area.

Professor Yue of the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering of the University of Hong Kong said: “In fact, 5G is not just fibre-optic communications, including millimetre waves and future networks. It is not just the increase in speed, but the need to reduce reliability and latency. These are all 5G. The more important indicators in it.”
