LiPHY wins award in the GBA High-value Patent Portfolio Layout Competition 2021

LiPHY Communications Limited led by Prof. Patrick YUE, Professor of HKUST Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering & Director of Integrated Circuits Design Centre, received an Excellence Award in the GBA High-value Patent Portfolio Layout Competition 2021 with visible light communication (VLC) technology research project.

Our technology provides solutions for advertising signage through digital visible light, Bluetooth, and pedestrian dead reckoning technology.

LiPHY has developed a unique Visible Light Communication (VLC) technology, combined with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), which uses the visible light emitted by Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to transmit information signals through the air wirelessly.

Users can capture these signals using smartphones and tablets running the LiPHY app by simply pointing their phones at a light source. LiPHY Communications was officially established in 2017 with the help of the HKUST Technology Transfer Centre and Entrepreneurship Centre. LiPHY Communications was exhibited at the StartUp Runway 2021 of HKUST, and it is now applying in theBASE, the Entrepreneurship base of HKUST.
